 The contemporary remake of the ’80s cult classicTemptation Island promises hilarious and sexy antics from diverse characters all struggling to survive on a desert island.
It tells the story of four ladies joining a model search for the new face of “Manila Sunshine,” the brand name of a fictitious sunblock. Unfortunately, the cruise ship carrying the four finalists catches fire and everyone scrambles for their lives. As a result, four ladies together with a maid, a gay millionaire, and three hunky men, are marooned in a desert island. This movie features GMA-7’s prime actresses as the four finalists of the model search. These are Marian Rivera as Cristina, the con-artist; Lovi Poe as Serafina, the brat; Solenn Heussaff as Pura, the social climber; and Heart Evangelista as Virginia, the virgin. To prepare for their roles, these modern day Temptation Island characters took their role to heart. “Ako I watched it (the original Temptation Island) like ten times,” Solenn shared during the press conference of the movie. For our return journey, we meet the four gorgeous ladies who will usher us back into its surreal world of beauty contests, sex, giant ice cream cones and cannibalism. Let’s talk on the bed.” Solenn Heussaff uttered these words to me in a hotel suite about three months ago. No, there wasn’t anything salacious about it nor were we alone at the time. It was more of an afterthought really, since she was watching TV, waiting to be called upstairs for the shoot to begin. Various people were shuffling about the room. I’d already spoken to the three other beautiful ladies that afternoon — her co-stars on this month’s cover of Preview and also for the upcoming remake of Joey Gosiengfiao camp classic Temptation Island. At the time, though, only Solenn had seen the original movie. “I watched it four times, actually,” she said, laughing to herself recalling certain scenes. She would play the part of the social climber, Bambi Arambulo, in the original.
